Chapters
The American Physiological Society’s Chapter Program is designed to
promote at the local level, the general objectives of the Society,
including its goal of interdisciplinary contracts among research workers
interested in the physiological sciences and education of the general
public and future physiologists. Each chapter should be incorporated, by
the organizers of the chapter, under the local laws of the state in which
the chapter is located. If you are interested in starting a local chapter,

Gulf Coast Physiological Society
The GCPS was founded in 1999 as a professional association of
physiologists in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama. It was established to
foster collaborative interactions related to research and education and to
develop and nurture greater interest in the physiological sciences among
faculty and students in related undergraduate programs. One of the goals
of GCPS is to develop outreach programs to the many undergraduate programs
facilitating recruitment of undergraduate students into physiology.

Iowa Physiological Society
The mission of the Iowa Physiological Society (IPS) is to unite
physiologists in enhancing, networking and advancing physiology throughout
the State of Iowa. This is at the molecular, cellular, organ and
organismal levels. Both basic and applied research as well as teaching are

Midwest Physiological Society
The Midwest Physiological Society currently is composed of
physiologists from around Wisconsin with a diverse research background in
both basic and applied physiology. The chapter will be working with other
societies being organized in the midwest to hold an annual meeting to
bring together the greatest number of physiologists in the area.

Nebraska Physiological Society
The Nebraska Physiological Society (NPS) fosters
interdisciplinary contacts among researchers interested in the physiologic
sciences and in the education of the general public and future
physiologists. The Society holds an Annual Meeting at which members present
and discuss their work from the previous year and sponsors other events
consistent with its goals. more>>>
Ohio Physiological Society
The Ohio Physiological Society (OPS) became the first APS chapter
during the Spring Meeting of Council in 1995. The OPS was founded in 1986
as a professional association of Ohio physiologists. It was established
with the purpose of enhancing and advancing the field of physiology as a
coordinated discipline consisting of the many subdisciplines working at
the molecular, cellular, and organ system levels of organization in both
basic and applied areas. The current membership roster lists 95 regular
and 30 student members from a variety of academic institutions and
industry across Ohio and western Pennsylvania.

Oklahoma Society of Physiologists
The Oklahoma Physiological Society is an organization of scientists,
educators, and students in the State of Oklahoma dedicated to promoting
research and education in the physiological sciences at all levels.
