Application & Eligibility Details Frontiers in Physiology The Frontiers in Physiology Professional Development Fellowship program makes a special effort to involve teachers and students who are members of minority groups that are traditionally underrepresented in science. On page nine of the application, applicants are asked to provide racial and ethnic group information about themselves and their school population. Porter Physiology The Porter Physiology Development Program is open to underrepresented ethnic minority applicants. This includes African Americans, Hispanics, Native Americans, Native Alaskans, or Native Pacific Islanders. In the application, applicants are asked to provide racial and ethnic group information about themselves, but only those applicants who are members of the groups listed above are eligible for the Porter fellowship. Explorations in Biomedicine The Explorations in Biomedicine Professional Development program is designed for teachers and students who are members of minority groups traditionally underrepresented in science, in particular, those who are Native American. The Fellowship is open to science teachers who teach at middle schools and/or high schools (Gr. 6-12) serving primarily Native American students and to science faculty members at any of the Tribal Colleges that are members of the American Indian Research Opportunities Consortium (i.e., Blackfeet Community College, Chief Dull Knife College, Fort Belknap College, Fort Peck Community College, Little Big Horn College, Salish Kootenai College, and Stone Child College). On page eight of the application, applicants are asked to provide racial and ethnic group information about themselves and their school/tribal college. APS/NIDDK Minority Travel The APS/NIDDK Minority Travel Award program is open to graduate students, postdoctoral students, and advanced undergraduate students. The APS, with support from NIDDK and NIGMS, offers travel awards for underrepresented minorities (i.e., African Americans, Hispanics, Native Americans, and Pacific Islanders) who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents. Students who obtained their undergraduate education in Minority Biomedical Research Programs (MBRS) or Minority Access to Research Career (MARC)-eligible institutions, as well as students in the APS Porter Development Program, are encouraged to apply. Minority faculty members at the above institutions may also submit applications. Back to Fellowship Application Information page |
