APS Receives Donation of Artwork from Felix Bronner
Did you listen to the Living History interview of APS
member, Felix Bronner, University of Connecticut Health Center,
Farmington, which is available at
http://www.the-aps.org/livinghistory/. If you did, you would have
discovered that not only is Bronner an outstanding physiologist, but he is
also an accomplished artist. Indeed, his works can be viewed at
http://www.felixbronner.com/. As was noted in a 2003 review in
ARTnews, his work is described as
a “studied homage to the Abstract Expressionists, evoking Adolph
Gottlieb, William Baziotes, and Mark Rothko in particular….Bronner layers
transparent shapes over expanses of softened colors, with the occasional
opaque geometric forms dominating the canvas…”
The Society is pleased to announce that Dr. Bronner's family has
generously donated two of his works which are now on display in the
reception area of the APS Offices. The works are titled “Playing with
Shapes” and “Verspielt (Lost in Play).” Recently, Felix Bronner visited the
APS Offices to view the hanging of the pictures. The APS thanks the Bronner
family for
their generous donation.
