Congress passes continuing resolution

Before leaving town for the fall election season, Congress passed a continuing resolution to fund the federal government through November 17. Attached to the Defense appropriations bill, one of two spending bills that went to the President for his signature, the measure will continue funding for the NIH, NSF, VA and NASA at FY 2006 levels. The remaining appropriations bills will be considered in the lame duck Congressional session.

NIH announces CTSA awards

On Tuesday, October 3 NIH held a telebriefing to announce the winners of the first 12 CTSA awards. Also announced were the recipients of 52 planning grants. The NIH anticipates that by 2012 there will be 60 institutions around the country with CTSAs. For more information, see: http://www.nih.gov/news/pr/oct2006/ncrr-03.htm
