The American Physiological Society (APS) Award portfolio consists of two types of awards: Section and Society awards. Our three main audiences are researchers, educators and trainees.

Society Awards

Society awards often have committee oversight (e.g., Awards; Diversity, Equity & Inclusion; Fellows of APS; Science Policy committees). Society awards often support travel to the American Physiology Summit, APS’ annual meeting.

In addition to research recognition, APS also recognizes mentoring excellence, selects ambassadors of APS and provides fellowship stipends and career enhancement opportunities.

Section Awards

Section awards are specific to your area of research—from Cardiovascular to Water & Electrolyte Homeostasis Physiology. Most section honors and awards are presented at the American Physiology Summit and include distinguished lectures, abstract-based awards and new investigator recognition.

Award Eligibility and Funding

The majority of our awards are a benefit for APS members and require you to be a current, dues paying member of the Society. Each award has specific criteria for applications and review, so we encourage you to check the individual award web pages for those details. Applications must be submitted through the APS awards portal.

Funding levels range from $500 to $50,000 for a full fellowship. Apply for an APS award today!
