Home / Professional Development / Awards / How to Update your APS Profile

Keep your American Physiological Society (APS) profile and contact details up to date to ensure seamless access to the resources available to you as a member, including our awards. Providing APS with these details through your account will help us personalize your experience further. In the APS application site, you can review and update your profile in three steps.

All fields marked with * are required. Missing information is noted with a red background. Any missing information must be updated before you can apply for an award.

Education Details

Please confirm or update your education details in this section of your profile. This section is necessary to match you with eligible honors and awards.

Demographic Details

Please confirm or update your demographic information in this section of your APS profile. We collect this information to increase our understanding of who applies for and receives APS awards, and to improve our diversity efforts in all areas of the Society's operations. The information you share will be kept confidential. For more information, visit the APS award web page

The information we collect will be kept confidential. Any information APS uses will be reported in aggregate form only and will be used to guide the expansion of the Society’s stakeholder community. Each question must be answered, and while we hope you are willing to participate, you may choose “I prefer not to answer” for any questions you don’t feel comfortable answering.

Note regarding language: Language, particularly in relation to identity, involves social constructs which evolve over time. The questions we ask are not meant to label individuals but are meant to be helpful functional descriptors.

APS requests demographic information from applicants for use in program evaluation and reports. Information on individual participants is not reported associated with participants' names or institutions, only in the aggregate, e.g., 20% of program participants were women. For some federally funded awards, demographic data such as gender and racial or ethnic group may be required.

Lists of award recipients and their institutions may be published on the APS website and distributed via press release.
